Origin: Hoya obscura is a species of hoya native to the Philippines. The Outer Variegated form is a cultivated variegated selection prized for its cream/white leaf margins. It is not known as a hybrid.
Leaves: The leaves feature beautiful white/cream variegation around the outside edges, creating a striking contrast against the green center. Like standard Hoya obscura, the foliage has a slightly textured appearance and can develop gorgeous red coloring (“sun stress”) when given strong light. This makes each new leaf an exciting transformation as it matures.
Flowers: Hoya obscura produces clusters of small star-shaped flowers typical of hoyas. The blooms are often described as pink to peach tones with a contrasting center and can have a sweet fragrance. Flower size, bloom duration, and scent intensity can vary depending on growing conditions.
Growth Rate: Hoya obscura is considered a relatively easy-growing hoya compared to many collector varieties. With proper light, warmth, and watering, it can grow steadily and reward growers with new vines and foliage.
