Hoya papua (PNG IM-08) may have tiny leaves that look delicate at first glance, but this Papua New Guinea collector's Hoya is surprisingly vigorous and rewarding to grow. Its slender vines quickly wrap around supports, creating a charming, wild appearance that makes a trellis highly recommended.

Despite its small size, IM-08 is an enthusiastic grower that can rapidly fill out a display, making it an excellent choice for collectors who enjoy watching their plants transform over time.

  • Origin: Hoya papua is native to Papua New Guinea. The clone designation PNG IM-08 refers to a specific collection form.

  • Leaves: Features tiny, thin leaves with a slightly fuzzy texture. Although the foliage appears fragile, it is surprisingly resilient and easy to grow. The vines naturally twist and climb, making this an excellent candidate for a trellis.

  • Flowers: Produces charming white flowers with narrow, star-like petals covered in fine fuzz, creating a soft, almost feathery appearance. The creamy white corona contrasts beautifully against the blooms. One of the standout qualities of PNG IM-08 is how readily it flowers—this clone blooms easily, blooms often, and can reward growers with repeated flowering cycles under favorable conditions.

  • Growth Rate: Fast-growing. Under favorable conditions, this plant grows vigorously and can "grow like a weed."

  • Watering: Water when the potting mix is approaching dryness. Avoid allowing the roots to remain constantly wet.

  • Light: Prefers bright artificial or natural light. This plant thrives approximately 8 inches beneath a single Barrina T5 light for 14 hours per day.

  • Ideal Temperature & Humidity: Grows exceptionally well around 85°F (29°C) with 70–75% humidity.

  • General Hoya Care: Plant in a well-draining mix, provide airflow, and avoid overwatering. For detailed growing instructions, visit: https://hoyatreasures.com/pages/caring-for-hoya
