Hoya uniflora is one of the most distinctive species in the Hoya world, prized for its charming miniature leaves and unusual flowers that look unlike almost any other Hoya. This species combines compact growth with fascinating blooms, making it a rewarding choice for collectors who appreciate rare and unique plants. This rooted cutting is established in a 2-inch pot and already has new growth, giving you a head start on enjoying this exceptional species.

  • Origin: Hoya uniflora is a naturally occurring species native to Southeast Asia and was discovered growing along the Laos–Vietnam border. It was formally described by botanists in 2015 in Gardens' Bulletin Singapore (Rodda, Simonsson Juhonewe & Ercole). Scientific publication: https://journals.rbge.org.uk/index.php/rbgesib/article/view/164

  • Leaves: Features small, attractive green leaves with a distinctive crease running down the center. The foliage is relatively thick and succulent, helping the plant store moisture and tolerate brief dry periods. Its compact leaves give the plant a neat, collectible appearance that looks great even when not in bloom.

  • Flowers: Produces some of the most unusual flowers in the genus. The blooms are star-shaped and held singly or in small numbers rather than in the typical Hoya cluster. The flowers are often described as lantern-like or shooting-star shaped, with creamy white to pale yellow coloring and reddish accents. Fragrance is generally light to absent. Individual flowers are relatively large compared to the size of the foliage and can remain attractive for several days.

  • Growth Rate: Moderate grower when provided with warm temperatures, bright light, and consistent care.

  • Watering: Allow the potting mix to partially dry between waterings. Water thoroughly when the mix feels dry to the touch, avoiding constantly wet soil.

  • Light: Prefers bright indirect light. This plant grows well positioned about 8 inches beneath double Barrina T5 lights for approximately 14 hours per day.

  • Ideal Temperature: Around 75°F for optimal growth.

  • Ideal Humidity: Thrives around 62% humidity but adapts well to typical indoor humidity levels when properly acclimated.

  • General Hoya Care: Use a chunky, well-draining potting mix, avoid overwatering, and provide bright indirect light for best results. Learn more in our complete Hoya care guide: https://hoyatreasures.com/pages/caring-for-hoya
