Hoya 'Neon Pink' (DMW-001-N) is a rare and unique Hoya selected from David M. Weprin’s (DMW) personal collection, created from an open-pollinated Hoya verticillata (formerly known as wibergiae) seedling. After growing out many seedlings, DMW selected only four unique plants to propagate and share — and this is one of those special selections. With its traditional verticillata-style leaves and high-light neon pink splash, this fast-growing Hoya brings an eye-catching pop of color to any indoor plant collection while remaining easy to grow.
-
Origin: Hoya 'Neon Pink' (DMW-001-N) is an open-pollinated selection from Hoya verticillata (formerly known as wibergiae) in David M. Weprin’s collection. DMW selected four standout seedlings for propagation, and this plant is one of those unique cultivars.
-
Leaves: This Hoya has a more traditional Hoya verticillata leaf shape with attractive splash variegation. When grown under higher light conditions, the splash can develop a striking neon pink coloration, making it a standout foliage plant. The leaves have the thicker, more substantial feel commonly appreciated by Hoya
-
Growth rate: Hoya 'Neon Pink' is considered a fast and easy grower, making it a great choice for both newer Hoya growers and collectors looking for a rewarding plant that establishes quickly.
-
Watering: Allow the potting mix to partially dry between waterings. Like many Hoyas, it prefers consistent moisture without staying wet, so a well-draining mix and careful watering routine help encourage healthy roots and growth.
-
Light: This Hoya develops its strongest neon pink splash coloration when given higher light. It was grown about 8 inches from the top of the plant to double Barrina T5 lights for 14 hours per day. Bright, indirect light or supplemental grow lighting can help maintain vibrant coloration.
-
Temperature and humidity: The growing conditions provided for this plant were approximately 75°F with 62% humidity. Keeping it warm with moderate humidity can support healthy growth and new leaf development.
-
General Hoya care: Plant in a chunky, well-draining Hoya mix, provide bright filtered light, and avoid overwatering. Hoyas often prefer being slightly root-bound and can reward consistent care with beautiful foliage and blooms over time.
